Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal is raising issues of public interest in the Lok Sabha with full seriousness. Agrawal on Friday August 9 sought information from the Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi about the One Stop Centre Scheme under the National Women Empowerment Mission to provide integrated help and support under one roof to women affected by violence in Chhattisgarh.
On which Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi said that, a total of 34 OSCs have been approved, one in each of the 33 districts of Chhattisgarh and an additional one in Raipur, out of which 27 OSCs are currently functional. She also said that, in the last three years, assistance has been provided to about 17 thousand women. The One Stop Center Scheme is being implemented by the government in Chhattisgarh and the whole country from April 1, 2015. Currently, 786 out of 816 One Stop Centers are functional across the country. The purpose of OSC is to provide integrated assistance to distressed women affected by violence at one place. It provides various services including medical assistance, legal aid and advice, temporary shelter, police assistance, psychological social counseling to needy women.
