Durg: The recent horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir shocked the entire country. 26 people were killed in this attack. Meanwhile, a group of 65 people from Chhattisgarh, which included 10 people from Bhilai, has returned safely. When these people reached Durg railway station on Sunday April 27, 2025 , a flood of emotions erupted on seeing their family members. Some hugged their loved ones, while some were speechless due to happiness. Every corner of the station was drenched with tears of happiness and relief.

The returnees included children as young as three years to elderly people of 70 years. The happiness of returning home was clearly visible on everyone’s faces. People’s eyes welled up after meeting their loved ones. The passengers expressed their gratitude to the government, army and people associated with service, with whose help they could return home safely.

Vijay Shukla of Bhilai, while recalling that horrific scene, said, “We were only 10 kilometers away from Pahalgam. Suddenly the sound of gunfire was heard and we were stopped there. If we had gone further, we might not have been alive today. It was a very scary experience to see the movement of army vehicles and the gravity of the situation.” Similarly, Mamta Sharma, who is the operator of Sharma Travels, also shared her experience and said, “People associated with service spirit helped us a lot.

We were warned not to go further. Local people and administration helped us in every possible way. At that time there was an atmosphere of tension and fear in the entire area, the entire Pahalgam had turned into a cantonment.” This tragic incident has not only saddened the victim families but the entire country. However, the news of the safe return of these 65 people from Chhattisgarh has brought relief. Every person who returned thanked God and prayed that such a horrific scene should never be seen in the life .
