Ranchi : After the displeasure of the Union Education Ministry, Congress Foreign Branch chief Sam Pitroda has clarified that he was speaking at an event organised at IIT Roorkee, when immediately after his speech, obscene content started playing on the screen. In fact, earlier Sam Pitroda had claimed that this incident happened while addressing the students at IIT Ranchi. On which the Education Ministry had expressed displeasure.

On Wednesday night, the Education Ministry had issued a statement saying that ‘It is clarified that there is no IIT in Ranchi. In such a situation, the claim made in the video is not only baseless but also ignorant. It is relevant to mention that Ranchi has Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT). IIIT, Ranchi has also confirmed that they had not invited Sam Pitroda to give a speech in any conference, seminar.’ The Education Ministry said that ‘legal action can be taken for tarnishing the image of a prestigious institution.’

Sam Pitroda clarified

After the displeasure of the Ministry of Education, Sam Pitroda clarified on Thursday and shared a post on social media and wrote that ‘I was invited to speak at IIT Roorkee. The event was held on 1 February 2025, in which I addressed the students and faculty through a zoom call. Unfortunately, a few minutes after my speech started, a hacker hacked the video call and pornographic content started playing on streaming. We immediately closed the video call and the event was also ended immediately. It is extremely disturbing that such an incident happened, especially in an educational institution, which is a place of learning and development. Cyber ​​security remains a matter of concern and it reminds us how important digital safety and monitoring is. ‘

It is worth mentioning that earlier during a webcast, Congress leader Sam Pitroda had claimed that while talking virtually to the students at IIT Ranchi, pornographic content started playing on the screen. There was a lot of uproar over this claim of Pitroda. On which the Education Ministry issued a statement and raised questions on Pitroda’s claim. However, now Pitroda has given clarification.
