New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while speaking in Lok Sabha, called Pahalagam terror attack “height of cruelty”. PM Modi said that following Pahalgam terror attack, he made it clear that “terrorism won’t be spared” and the “perpetrators of terrorism won’t be spared.” PM Modi, while responding to opposition’s attack on Trump’s mediation claims, said no leader in the world asked India to stop attack during Operation Sindoor. He said that Pakistan DGMO, after suffering huge losses, came pleading and said “don’t hit us anymore, we can’t suffer any longer

Responding to the two-day debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor in the Lower House, PM Modi said no country in the world stopped India from taking action in its defence against terrorism.

PM Modi told the House that on May 9th night, “US Vice President (JD Vance) tried to reach out to me 3-4 times, but I was busy with meetings with the armed forces”.

“When I returned the call, the US Vice President warned me of a big attack from Pakistan. I told him that if Pakistan attacks India, our attack would be much bigger as we will respond to bullets with cannons,” he said. Modi asserted that no leader of any country asked India to stop the operation.

The prime minister’s address came following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remark, who hit out at the Centre for “halting Operation Sindoor in 22 minutes” and dared PM Modi to say that “Donald Trump is a liar”. He also said that the opposition stood like rock with the government during Operation Sindoor, despite jibes from the ruling party. He also attacked Pakistan for Operation Sindoor, saying “the heartless attack was clearly organised and orchestrated by the Pakistani State.”

Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday attacked the government over the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement following Operation Sindoor, questioning the conditions behind the agreement. Kharge attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not condemning US President Donald Trump, who he said, claimed of brokering the India-Pakistan ceasefire “29 times” in the past few weeks.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said Operation Sindoor has given message not only to Pakistan, but also to those who support it. While speaking in Rajya Sabha, Rajnath said if Pakistan is unable to act against terrorism, then India is ready to help.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, speaking in Lok Sabha, launched a scathing attack at the Centre over the Pahalgam terror attack. The Congress MP attacked the government over the failure of security agencies to thwart the terror strike and questioned why not one security personnel was present at the site of the terror attack.

The remarks came as the special discussion on Operation Sindoor continued for a second day in the Parliament on Tuesday as the MPs from the ruling and the opposition parties presented their stance over the issue. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has confirmed that the three terrorists neutralised in Operation Mahadev were involved in the Pahalgam Attack which killed 26 people.

Leaders in both of Houses of Parliament on Tuesday kept their focus on the April 22 Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. Here are top highlights of the day:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah began the debate in Lok Sabha with details on Operation Mahadev, an operation in J&K which neutralised three terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack. He also lashed out the Congress for leader P Chidambaram seeking proof that the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack were from Pakistan.

Later, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav began his address, and questioned the timing of Op Mahadev . He also called Operation Sindoor a symbol of government’s intelligence failure. “Who will take responsibility for ‘intelligence lapse’ in Pahalgam attack,” Akhilesh said in Lok Sabha.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi attacked the government  over the Pahalgam attack, questioning why there were no security personnel present when the deadly attack took place in the valley. “Yesterday, the Defence Minister spoke for an hour, during which he spoke about terrorism, protecting the country, and also gave a history lesson. But one thing was left out- How did this attack happen?” she asked.

Later, LoP Rahul Gandhi addressed Lok Sabha. He questioned why Pakistan was informed of the Operation Sindoor strikes  minutes after they took place. “You went into Pakistan, and you told our pilots not to attack their air defence. It was bound that the aircraft would be downed. You tied the hands of our pilots,” Rahul Gandhi said. He also urged PM Modi to call Trump a “liar” over his India-Pak conflict ceasefire claim, that India has rejected multiple times.

In the evening, PM Modi began his address to Lok Sabha, starting with heaping praise on Operation Sindoor. He said “April22 was avenged in 22 minutes , lauding the armed forces for dealing a blow to terror infrastructure in Pak and POK. He also lashed out at the Opposition for questioning the timing of Op Mahadev, and also slammed Congress for “being dependent on Pakistan for issues”.
