Stone pelting on Ganesh pandal: 33 arrested, Hindu organization protests, police action continued throughout the night

Surat: A case of stone pelting on Ganesh Puja pandal has come to light in Syedpura area of ​​Surat city of Gujarat. Police has arrested a total of 33 people including 6 accused of stone pelting in this case. Heavy police force is deployed in the area. After this incident, angry mob of local people vandalized and created ruckus in the area. Police said that after stone pelting on Ganesh Puja pandal, clashes broke out in Syedpura area of ​​Surat. As soon as the information of the case was received, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi went to the spot and took stock of the situation and directed the police to take strict action against those involved in this incident.

Harsh Sanghvi said on Monday September 9 that six people pelted stones at a Ganesh pandal in Surat’s Syedpura area and all of them have been arrested. The minister said the police have also arrested 27 others who instigated such incidents.

Speaking to ANI, Harsh Sanghvi said, “6 people had pelted stones at a Ganesh pandal in Surat’s Syedpura area. All these 6 people have been arrested and the police have also arrested 27 others who encouraged such an incident. Further investigation is underway. Police is deployed in all areas of Surat. Action will be taken against those who disturb the peace in the state.” Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot, speaking on the incident, said, “Some children had pelted stones at the Ganesh pandal, after which a clash broke out there. The police immediately removed those children from there. Police was also immediately deployed in the area. Lathicharge was done wherever needed and tear gas was also used. All the accused who disturbed the peace are being arrested. Around 1,000 policemen are deployed in the area and common people are also present here.
