Raipur: On the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, scholarships and stipends are now being paid online to the bank accounts of students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Minorities, and Economically Weaker Sections studying in educational institutions, ashram hostels, and technical and professional courses in the state. Chief Minister Sai today transferred scholarships and stipends worth ₹84.66 crore online to the bank accounts of 1.98 lakh students from these categories at a program held at the Secretariat, Mahanadi Bhawan.

Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah said that under the new system for pre-matric and post-matric scholarship and fellowship payments, online payments will be made to students in the months of June, September, October, and December. This initiative will alleviate students’ financial difficulties during their academic studies. Previously, scholarships and fellowships were disbursed to students once a year in December and February-March.

Principal Secretary Borah further said that these continuous efforts towards good governance under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai have made governance more accountable and transparent than before. Bora also said that Chief Minister Sai today transferred the second installment of scholarships worth ₹79 crore 27 lakh and post-matric scholarships to 1,86,050 students from ashram hostels. An amount of Rs. 5 crore 38 lakh 81 thousand has been transferred to the bank accounts of 12 thousand 142 students receiving Matric Scholarships.

Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah informed that the online payment of scholarships and fellowships to students was initiated for the first time on June 10, 2025, by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. An innovative initiative was taken by releasing the first installment of scholarships amounting to Rs. 77 crore and the first installment of food assistance amounting to Rs. 8.93 crore for students studying in post-matric hostels, a total of Rs. 85 crore, to all pre-matric hostels and ashrams operating in the state before the start of the academic session. Furthermore, in the second phase, on June 17, 2025, scholarships amounting to Rs. 6.2 crore were transferred online to 8370 students.

On this occasion, Tribal Development Minister Ramvichar Netam, Forest and Climate Change Minister Kedar Kashyap, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Finance Minister O.P. Chaudhary, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma, School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Scheduled Caste Development Minister Guru Khuswant Saheb, Tourism Minister Rajesh Agarwal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Commissioner of Tribal, Scheduled Caste and Backward Class and Minority Development Department Dr. Saransh Mittal were also present.
