Raipur: With the objective of giving Chhattisgarh’s rich literary and cultural heritage a strong identity on the national stage, Commissioner Public Relations Dr. Ravi Mittal and Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh today inspected the venue to review the preparations for the ‘Raipur Literature Festival – 2026’, which will be held from January 23 to 25, 2026, at Purkhauti Muktangan in Nava Raipur.

During the inspection, instructions were given to complete all arrangements, including stalls, the main stage, venues for literary sessions, food zone, drinking water, parking, security, and visitor facilities, in a timely and systematic manner. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Sahitya Akademi, Shashank Sharma, Director of the Culture Department, Vivek Acharya, Chief Executive Officer of Raipur District Panchayat, Kumar Bishwaranjan, Municipal Commissioner Vishwadeep, and other office bearers of the organising committee were present.

‘From the Beginning to Eternity’ – A celebration of the vibrant tradition of Indian literature

The central theme of the prestigious ‘Raipur Literature Festival’ is ‘From the Beginning to Eternity’, which highlights the continuous, vibrant, and evolving tradition of Indian literature. Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh said that the Raipur Literature Festival is a celebration of the confluence of literature, ideas, and culture. He directed that all arrangements should be of high quality to ensure that visitors have a comfortable, safe, and memorable experience, Gaurav Singh added.

Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh further said that widespread participation of children, youth, teachers, writers, and general readers will be ensured in the organisation of the Raipur Literature Festival. He said that connecting the new generation with literature, ideas, and culture is a major objective of this festival.

Nava Raipur to become a center of literature, ideas, and art

For three days, Purkhauti Muktangan will become a vibrant center of literary discussions, book launches, brainstorming sessions, cultural performances, and art exhibitions. This event is considered a significant step towards establishing a strong presence for Chhattisgarh on the national literary map.

Literary figures, thinkers, and writers from across the country will participate.

The Raipur Literature Festival – 2026 will bring together renowned literary figures, poets, writers, journalists, thinkers, and young creators from various parts of the country on a single platform for dialogue.

The program will include literary sessions, open discussions, deliberations on contemporary issues, and creative presentations.

A powerful platform for youth and children

A key feature of the festival is its special focus on the younger generation. Books based on original poems, stories, and other works by school children from Raipur district will be released. Open mic sessions and other platforms will be provided for children and young people to showcase their creative expression.

There is considerable enthusiasm among the youth regarding the event – ​​more than 4,000 registrations have already been received, and the process is ongoing.

Grand Book Fair and Author-Reader Interaction

A grand book fair with approximately 40 stalls will be organised during the festival, showcasing and selling books from renowned publishers across the country. This platform will encourage direct interaction between authors and readers.

The ‘Chanakya’ play and cultural performances will be special attractions.

The Raipur Literature Festival will feature a special performance of the play ‘Chanakya,’ an impressive example of Indian intellectual tradition and dramatic art. Along with this, folk dances, folk songs, and Chhattisgarhi cultural performances will introduce the audience to the vibrant folk culture of the state.

Poetry Recitation and Dialogue Sessions

A poetry recitation session will be held with the participation of renowned poets, whose powerful works will provide literary enjoyment to the audience. Open dialogue sessions will also be held with journalists, thinkers, and social activists, featuring meaningful discussions on contemporary socio-cultural issues.

During the inspection, all the officers present and members of the organising committee shared their suggestions to make the event well-organised, effective, and memorable. This event is emerging as a powerful initiative to connect Chhattisgarh’s literary consciousness, intellectual traditions, and cultural spirit with the national discourse.

The Raipur Literature Festival 2026 will not only build a bridge between writers and readers but will also serve as a means to sensitise the new generation to literature, culture, and ideas. Enriched with literary discussions, creative expression, and cultural diversity, this three-day festival will prove to be a significant and memorable chapter in establishing Nava Raipur among the country’s leading literary centers.
