New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday January 24, 2026 distributed over 61,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth at the 18th Rozgar Mela, held in New Delhi.

Addressing the programme virtually, the Prime Minister described the appointment letters as an “invitation to nation building” and reminded the youth of their responsibility towards the Constitution.

Referring to recent national observances, PM Modi said the new year has brought fresh beginnings for the youth. He mentioned Basant Panchami, Parakram Diwas celebrated on January 23 on the birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose, and National Voters Day on January 25, highlighting their significance.

The event was attended by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, along with IPS officers, CRPF personnel, and defence officials.

PM Modi said that January 24 marks the day when the Constitution recognised “Jana Gana Man” as the national anthem and “Vande Mataram” as the national song. He said the appointment letters symbolise a commitment to nation building and will strengthen sectors such as defence, healthcare, education, and energy security.

Congratulating the newly appointed youth, the Prime Minister said connecting skilled youth with employment opportunities has been a key objective of his government. He noted that the Rozgar Mela was launched in mission mode to fast-track government recruitment and has helped lakhs of youth secure jobs across various departments.

]He further highlighted that Rozgar Melas are being organised at over 40 locations across the country and emphasised that India, being one of the youngest nations in the world, is creating more opportunities through trade, mobility agreements, infrastructure development, and a rapidly growing startup ecosystem.

PM Modi added that India has around two lakh registered startups employing over 21 lakh youth, with initiatives like Digital India and the expanding creator economy opening new avenues in sectors such as animation, digital media, and digital innovation.
