The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson clarified India’s stance on oil purchases from Venezuela, stating that oil purchases will be based solely on supply and profit. He described the recent joint statement on India-US trade relations as positive, under which Indian negotiators will visit the US next week.

New Delhi : Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified India’s stance on oil purchases from Venezuela. He said that India has previously made it clear and reiterates that oil purchases will only be made if supply and profit are assured. This means that India manages its energy needs keeping in mind its strategic and economic interests.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson also addressed the recent joint statement on India-US trade relations. He stated that both India and the US are working together to formulate a trade agreement that will benefit both countries. Under this initiative, Indian negotiators will travel to the United States next week for further talks. This step is considered important in strengthening bilateral relations.

India’s position on the Palestine issue was also clarified. Spokesperson Jaiswal stated that the recently issued India-Arab League Ministerial Joint Statement committed both sides to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East, in accordance with international law, UN resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

This statement supports the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, coexisting peacefully with Israel.

The spokesperson also stated that India participated as an observer in the Board of Peace meeting in Washington, DC, and supports President Donald Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan initiative and ongoing efforts under UN Security Council Resolution 2803. India is playing an active role in pursuing a balanced and peaceful resolution of this issue.
