Bilaspur: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka has called upon students and young people to make disciplined use of their time, work consistently towards their goals and use the opportunities created by the internet and technology to move in the right direction.

Addressing ‘Dronacharyas’ Sangam-2026’ at SECL-DAV Public School, Vasant Vihar, Bilaspur, organised in connection with Teachers’ Day, the Governor said that while access to knowledge and information had expanded dramatically, success would ultimately depend upon how young people used their time, opportunities and abilities.

The programme also recognised teachers for notable and outstanding contributions across different areas of education.

‘Use Time Wisely in the Age of Internet and Technology’

Deka said the present generation was growing up in an environment in which information and knowledge were available more easily than ever before. This accessibility, however, also placed greater responsibility on young people to decide how they used technology and their time.

“The proper use of time is extremely important in life. This is the age of the internet and technology, and children are growing up rapidly in a world where knowledge and information are easily available. Young people must use their time wisely and move in the right direction,” the Governor said.

His message placed personal discipline alongside technological opportunity. Access to information, he indicated, could assist students, but meaningful achievement would still require purpose, effort and perseverance.

Modern Education Must Carry Values

Reflecting on the evolution of India’s education system, Deka referred to the country’s ancient Gurukul tradition, in which the teacher’s responsibility extended beyond imparting academic knowledge to nurturing values and character.

He said India’s education system had undergone extensive changes since Independence, but the need to connect learning with values remained relevant even in an increasingly technology-driven age.

“Along with modern education, the inclusion of values and sanskar is also necessary,” Deka said.

The Governor urged students not to become discouraged by difficulties and to continue making sincere efforts towards their objectives.

“Those who work hard certainly achieve success. We must continue our efforts in life and should not be afraid of challenges,” he said.

Teachers Help Build Society

Deka underlined that the influence of a teacher extends well beyond lessons delivered in a classroom.

Family and teachers, he said, both have important responsibilities in shaping society and developing responsible citizens.

“Teachers do not merely teach students; they also make an important contribution towards educating and creating awareness in society,” the Governor said.

He also emphasised the importance of nurturing patriotism and values among children, saying that a strong sense of responsibility towards the nation could help develop informed and patriotic citizens.

The Governor’s address was not limited to students and teachers. He also appealed to senior citizens to approach life positively and cultivate gratitude for what they had received.

“We should have a sense of contentment and gratitude for what life has given us and enjoy life by living in the present,” Deka said.

His remarks connected education with a wider understanding of life in which achievement, values, gratitude and social responsibility complement one another.

Teachers Honoured for Excellence

A major feature of Dronacharyas’ Sangam-2026 was the recognition of teachers who have made notable and outstanding contributions in different areas of education.

Governor Deka appreciated the dedication and work of the awardees and presented honours in various categories. The programme also highlighted the educational partnership between SECL and DAV and provided a platform for recognising teachers, exchanging experiences and encouraging excellence in education.

Bilaspur Divisional Commissioner Sunil Jain, Collector Sanjay Agrawal, SECL Director Biranchi Das, Himanshu Jain, officials and employees of SECL, representatives of DAV management, teachers and other participants were present.
