Raipur: Nearly 10,000 young people in Chhattisgarh could find employment opportunities as the State government prepares to bring employers and job seekers together for a two-day State-level employment fair in Raipur on October 7 and 8.

The fair, being organised by the Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Department, will be held at the Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Budhapara. The initiative is aimed at connecting educated and trained youth with private-sector employment suited to their qualifications and skills.

The scale of available vacancies is already substantial. According to information released by the government, 62 companies and placement agencies have so far provided details of 9,449 vacant positions. Discussions with additional employers are continuing, which could take the number of available opportunities still higher.

The employment fair is also designed to bring local employers and national-level private companies onto a common recruitment platform, allowing applicants with widely varying educational and technical backgrounds to explore opportunities at one venue.

On October 8, the concluding day of the fair, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Skill Development and Employment Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb are scheduled to distribute offer letters to selected candidates.

Guru Khushwant Saheb said the State government was continuously working towards the overall development of young people and helping them become self-reliant.

“Through the employment fair, an effort is being made to provide maximum opportunities to youth according to their qualifications and skills,” the minister said.

Opportunities Across Qualifications and Sectors

The recruitment drive is not restricted to graduates or technically qualified applicants.

Vacancies are available for candidates who have completed Class 10 or 12 as well as those holding ITI certificates, diplomas and engineering qualifications. Agriculture graduates and general graduates can participate, while opportunities are also available for candidates with postgraduate qualifications including MBA and MCA.

Technical vacancies include positions for machine operators, assembly operators, fitters, welders, electricians, electric meter technicians and maintenance electricians. Openings for mechanical engineers and quality inspectors have also been reported.

The services sector offers another substantial pool of opportunities.

Candidates can apply for positions including computer operator, customer-care executive, telecaller, relationship manager, sales executive and sales officer. Jobs connected with banking, finance and human resources will also be available.

Healthcare and caregiving vacancies include nursing staff and caretakers, while the security sector will recruit guards and supervisors.

Employment linked to transportation, logistics and last-mile services includes vacancies for drivers, delivery personnel, bike riders and picker-packers.

Candidates will be able to choose positions according to their qualifications, interests and the eligibility conditions prescribed by individual employers.

National and Local Employers to Participate

A diverse group of companies and employment organisations has submitted vacancies for the fair.

Among them are Quess Corp, Randstad India, Rajasthan Textile Mills-Sutlej Textiles, Vardhman Textiles, Genus Power Infrastructure and Airtel Payments Bank.

Instakart, Spandana Sphoorty Financial, Svatantra Microfin, NIIT, AISECT, Shanta Techno, Rajat Equipments and First Fly Corporate are also among the participating organisations listed by the government.

The presence of employers from different industries is expected to give applicants an opportunity to look beyond a single category of work and assess openings suited to their individual skills.

Applications Through e-Rojgar Portal

The government is using its e-Rojgar portal to streamline registration, applications and the selection process.

Vacancies received from participating companies and placement agencies are being displayed on the portal. Applicants can register online, examine available positions from home and apply for vacancies for which they are eligible.

This also allows young job seekers to study the employment opportunities before arriving at the venue rather than beginning their search only after reaching the fair.

Employers, meanwhile, will be able to view candidate profiles and applications through the platform. They can use this information to shortlist suitable applicants and undertake preliminary selection according to their requirements.

Candidates wishing to participate can register through the official Chhattisgarh e-Rojgar portal — erojgar.cg.gov.in.

Employment Drives Show Rising Selection Numbers

Government figures also indicate an increase in selections through employment fairs and placement camps over recent years.

During the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26, 9,463 candidates were selected through State and district-level employment fairs and placement camps conducted by the Chhattisgarh Employment and Training Department.

In 2024-25, 311 placement camps were organised along with employment fairs in Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur, resulting in the selection of 5,314 candidates.

During 2025-26, another 245 placement camps were held, while employment fairs were organised in Raipur, Balodabazar and Durg. These initiatives resulted in 4,149 selections.

The pace has increased considerably during the current financial year. According to the department’s figures, 224 placement camps and employment fairs had already been organised across Chhattisgarh by September 2026, with 8,878 candidates selected.

The October 7-8 State-level fair therefore represents a considerably larger recruitment exercise.

With thousands of vacancies ranging from industrial and technical work to banking, sales, healthcare, logistics, customer services and management, the event is intended to bring employment opportunities closer to young people with very different educational backgrounds.

For applicants, however, the most important number will not ultimately be the vacancies announced but the offer letters actually received.

The distribution of those letters on October 8 could turn the employment fair from a recruitment exercise into a significant opportunity for thousands of Chhattisgarh families.
