Haryana: Aam Aadmi Party workers and leaders protested against the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat in the Paris Olympics and demanded a fair investigation into the entire matter. AAP workers, led by the party’s state spokesperson Sumit Hindustani, gathered at Ambedkar Chowk and raised slogans in support of Vinesh Phogat. Sumit Hindustani said, “AAP fully supports Vinesh Phogat. Olympics is the biggest sport and she could have won the match, but she was disqualified.
The BJP government has failed to raise the issue strongly and properly. The country is disappointed and frustrated by the disqualification and the government has also disappointed the people. Vinesh should at least be given a silver medal.” He said, “The Haryana government has announced the same award as the Olympic silver medalist, but we demand that the government give her the same award as the gold medalist. We also demand that the government should strongly raise this matter and amend the rules, so that in future no player is disqualified like this.”
