New Delhi: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia has got bail after being in jail for 17 months in the excise policy case. The Supreme Court has granted bail to Manish Sisodia. The order on this matter was reserved by a bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanath three days ago on August 6.
Manish Sisodia had approached the Supreme Court against the decision of the Delhi High Court. In fact, the High Court had rejected Sisodia’s bail plea. While granting bail to Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court said, ‘The High Court and the trial court are playing safe in the matter of bail. Bail cannot be denied as a punishment. Now the time has come for the courts to understand that bail is a rule and jail is an exception.
