Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman Makes BIG Promise To Hindus and other Religions
Dhaka : In his maiden address, Tarique Rahman promised to turn Bangladesh into a secure and inclusive nation where every citizen enjoys equal rights.
He stressed restoring law and order and tackling corruption as immediate priorities. The pledge comes amid concerns over attacks on minority communities since the political upheaval of August 2024. India has repeatedly raised the issue of minority safety.
At the same time, a Bangladeshi student leader accused in the killing of Hindu police officer Santosh Chowdhury was detained at Delhi airport and deported.
The officer was lynched during violent protests on the day Sheikh Hasina fled the country. The timing of the arrest has sharpened focus on justice and accountability. For New Delhi, stability and minority protection in Bangladesh remain critical as the new government begins its term
