Kolkata: The BJP is gearing up to launch its West Bengal manifesto, likely on April 10 in Kolkata, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah expected to unveil it, according to sources.

The manifesto is expected to address various sections of society, with a special focus on women, farmers, and youth. Key highlights are likely to include a monthly benefit of ₹3,000 for women beneficiaries, special packages for healthcare and education, initiatives to boost industrial growth and set up industrial zones, and plans to establish more colleges with a focus on women’s education.

Additional proposals include a special package for fisheries and agro-processing units, the establishment of more hospitals, and employment opportunities for youth. The party aims to present a comprehensive development-oriented agenda catering to diverse groups.

According to party sources, the manifesto will combine a strong critique of the ruling TMC with welfare measures and development promises, as the BJP prepares for a crucial electoral contest in the state.

The party has already completed its groundwork for the West Bengal polls. The manifesto preparation process began in early February and concluded by the end of the month. During this period, the BJP sought inputs from industrialists, educators, businesspersons, teachers, doctors, students, homemakers, farmers, and members of the Bengali diaspora.

On February 7, the BJP launched a statewide outreach campaign titled “Bikoshito Paschim Banga Sankalp Patra – Paramarsha Sangraha Abhiyan” to gather public suggestions for the 2026 Assembly elections. Party workers visited booths and households to understand people’s concerns and expectations.

The campaign emphasized inclusivity, encouraging citizens to share their ideas through phone calls, emails, QR codes, and designated hashtags. “Akanksha Sangraha Baksho” (aspiration boxes) were also placed in districts to collect written suggestions.

The initiative aims to address issues such as unemployment, corruption, and migration by promoting transparency, job creation, and local opportunities for youth. The party described the manifesto as a “social contract” shaped by public aspirations.

BJP leader Anirban Ganguly stated that over 8 lakh suggestions have been received, along with strong public participation. The outreach also included online consultations with the Bengali diaspora and town hall meetings in Kolkata, along with interactions with farmers and fishermen.

BJP West Bengal president Samik Bhattacharya has appealed to citizens to contribute their ideas, stressing that public participation is key to shaping the state’s future. He said the manifesto should reflect the hopes and challenges of the people and invited suggestions on sectors such as education, employment, healthcare, women’s empowerment, youth development, agriculture, industry, MSMEs, infrastructure, culture, sports, environment, law and order, and governance.

He emphasised that the exercise is inclusive and open to all, regardless of political ideology, and called for a collective effort to build a developed West Bengal rooted in its rich heritage.
