CGPSC scam: Taman Sonawani and SK Goyal sent on a 7-day CBI remand

Raipur: In the CGPSC scam, the CBI on Monday November 18 , 2024 arrested the former chairman of CGPSC Taman Singh Sonwani and businessman SK Goyal. Both the accused were produced in the CBI Court of special judge Liladhar Sai Yadav. Not satisfied with the argument of the defense lawyer the court has sent them on a seven-day remand.

Let us inform you that in the court, CBI had sought 10 days remand of Taman Singh Sonwani and SK Goyal. Where on behalf of SK Goyal, his lawyer called the allegations of CBI as false and untrue. Defense lawyer admitted that the money was given to the NGO. All NGOs are given money from CSR funds and their intention behind giving the money was not wrong. However the court didn’t accept the idea of that money was given to CSR funds hence sent both of them to CBI remand.

It is worth mentioning that CBI has arrested former Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission Chairman Taman Singh Sonwani and others in connection with an alleged “nepotism” racket in which “ineligible” family members of politicians, PSC officials and public servant were recruited in lucrative government jobs during the Congress rule . Sonwani is also accused of allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 45 lakh from SK Goyal director of Bajrang Power Steel Company in lieu of selecting his son and daughter- in -law as deputy collectors .
