Raipur: Following the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, continuous efforts are being made to promote tourism in Chhattisgarh. People from across the country and the world are visiting Chhattisgarh to see its natural beauty and tourist destinations. Exhibitions and workshops are being organised in various parts of the country, especially in metropolitan cities, to provide information about Chhattisgarh’s tourist destinations. The aim of all these efforts is to put Chhattisgarh on the global tourism map.

On the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Seo Sai , tourism has been given the status of an industry in Chhattisgarh, and the new industrial policy provides several concessions.

A home-stay policy has been developed to promote tourism in the Bastar and Surguja regions of Chhattisgarh. Taking these efforts forward, the Chhattisgarh government has launched an innovative initiative of tourist guide training to provide employment opportunities in the tourism sector to the state’s youth, especially those from the Bastar region.

In accordance with the Chief Minister’s vision, a team of 45 youth was sent to the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Gwalior, in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, for tourist guide training. This group has returned to Chhattisgarh after completing a month of specialised training. These youth will be deployed as guides at Chhattisgarh’s tourist destinations.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Tourism Minister Rajesh Agarwal congratulated and wished the youth who successfully completed the tourist guide training.

The Chief Minister stated that the state’s natural beauty, lush valleys, and picturesque tourist destinations have the potential to transform Chhattisgarh into a tourism hub. Chhattisgarh holds immense potential in the tourism sector, opening new doors for employment and business. He urged the trained youth to specifically educate tourists about Chhattisgarh’s tourist destinations and facilities, thereby increasing tourist numbers.

This will boost employment and business in the tourism sector in the state.

It is worth mentioning that the special tourist guide training program was organised by the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board after a gap of 7 years. Most of the youth in this program are residents of Bastar division.

During the training, the youth were given practical training in tourist guidance, communication skills, cultural heritage, tourism management, and field work, so that they can effectively present the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh.

The trained youth will play an important role in taking the state’s tourism industry to new heights by better promoting Chhattisgarh’s cultural and natural tourist destinations.
