DGP-IGP conference: PM Modi expressed concern over new age threats like digital fraud, cyber crime and misuse of AI

New Delhi. DGP-IGP conference: PM Narendra Modi attended the 59th All India Conference of Directors General / Inspectors General of Police. The PM expanded the mantra of smart policing and called upon the police to be strategic, vigilant, adaptive, reliable and transparent.

During this, PM Modi called upon the police to turn the challenges posed by digital fraud, cyber crime and AI into an opportunity by using India’s dual AI power Artificial Intelligence and Aspirational India. Discussing the success of the hackathon in solving some major problems, the Prime Minister also suggested discussions on organising a National Police Hackathon.

In the closing session of the program, the Prime Minister distributed the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service to the officers of the Intelligence Bureau. In his concluding speech, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the extensive discussion on the national and international dimensions of security challenges and the counter strategies that emerged from the discussions.

Concern expressed over deep fakes
PM Modi expressed concern over the potential threats posed by digital fraud, cybercrime and AI technology, especially the potential of deep fakes to disrupt social and family relationships.

The PM elaborated the mantra of smart policing and called upon the police to be strategic, alert, adaptable, credible and transparent. Appreciating the initiatives taken in urban policing, he suggested that these should be fully integrated and implemented in 100 cities of the country.
