Double the reward on mass surrender of Naxalites, development work worth Rs 1 crore will be done if the village becomes Naxal-free

In Naxal-affected Chhattisgarh, the government will now give more incentives to Naxalites who give up violence and return to the mainstream of society. Under the new Naxal surrender policy prepared under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, those who surrender in masse will not only get double the amount of the declared reward, but special development works worth one crore will also be carried out in the Gram Panchayats declared Naxal-free.

Raipur : If 80 percent or more active members of a formation unit of the Naxalite organization surrender collectively, then they will be given double the amount of reward money declared against them. Along with this, in highly Naxalite affected districts like Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Kanker, if all the Naxalite and militia members active in a Gram Panchayat area surrender, and the Gram Panchayat is declared Naxal-free, then developmental works worth one crore rupees will be sanctioned there.

Under the new policy, if both husband and wife surrender, then they will be considered as separate units and will be given the benefit of different rehabilitation schemes. However, if both are considered as one unit in any scheme, then the benefit will be given accordingly. The reward amount will be determined separately for both.

Relief and assistance amount will be provided to the surrendered Naxalite from the budget of the Home Department. The District Collector will have to ensure that the entire amount is provided to the concerned person within 10 days of surrender. If a surrendered Naxal has criminal cases registered against him, then considering his contribution in the eradication of Naxalism and his good conduct for 6 months, the sub-committee of the Council of Ministers can consider closing these cases.
