Raipur: Quality of construction and timely completion came under close scrutiny in Bilaspur on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 as Urban Administration and Development Department Principal Secretary Sonmoni Bohara inspected two major urban projects and directed officials to address deficiencies within 15 days.
Bora inspected houses constructed under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban at Sakri before visiting the city bus depot at Koni, where infrastructure for the PM e-Bus service is under construction.

SUDA CEO Sumit Agarwal, Bilaspur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prakash Kumar Sarve and senior municipal officials accompanied him during the inspection.
Unfinished work at PMAY houses draws attention
At Sakri, Bohara examined the quality and finishing of the newly constructed houses. He expressed dissatisfaction after finding that floor tiles had not been installed at some places and finishing work remained incomplete.
Municipal engineers and the construction agencies were directed to rectify the shortcomings immediately and complete the pending finishing work without further delay.
Bohara also questioned officials about the dimensions of kitchens and platforms and sought details of the materials used in construction.

Beyond completion of individual houses, he asked officials to improve the residential environment. A proposal for a boundary wall is to be prepared, while arrangements are also to be made for cleanliness, seating facilities and a play area for children.
The Principal Secretary said progress would be reviewed again after 15 days, putting officials and executing agencies on a clear timeline.
Around ₹11.75 crore has been spent on constructing 261 houses at Sakri, where final-stage finishing work remains to be completed.
Koni e-bus infrastructure inspected
Bohara subsequently inspected the terminal complex, sub-station and charging infrastructure being developed at the Koni city bus depot under the PM e-Bus service.
He reviewed construction progress and asked officials to properly organise the proposed bus stops and install display boards so passengers can easily access information on bus timings and movement.
Bilaspur is slated to receive 50 air-conditioned electric buses — 35 buses measuring nine metres and another 15 measuring seven metres.

The buses are planned to operate across 12 routes, with connectivity being designed around schools, colleges, industrial and commercial areas, tourist destinations and the High Court.
₹11.45 crore infrastructure push for electric mobility
A total of ₹11.45 crore has been sanctioned for infrastructure at the Koni depot. Of this, ₹8.37 crore is earmarked for civil infrastructure, ₹1.59 crore for the sub-station and ₹1.49 crore for a high-tension electricity connection.
Civil infrastructure is currently around 70 per cent complete, while construction of the sub-station has reached approximately 80 per cent.
CSPDCL will develop the infrastructure required for the high-tension power connection.
The terminal complex is also proposed to have a cafeteria and a rain basera (night shelter), adding passenger amenities to the electric public transport facility.
With Bilaspur preparing to put 50 electric buses on the road, Bohara’s inspection placed the focus firmly on execution — ensuring that housing projects are delivered with proper finishing and that charging, terminal and passenger infrastructure is ready before the new public transport system becomes operational.
