Emergency landing of helicopter on highway: Flight was for Kedarnath Dham, passengers’ lives were saved due to prudence

The helicopter flying to Kedarnath Dham had to make an emergency landing. The pilot made an emergency landing on the highway .

A helicopter going to Kedarnath in Badasu area of ​​Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand on Saturday June 7 , 2025 suddenly landed on the highway due to technical fault. The helicopter was going towards Kedarnath Dham with devotees, but due to an emergency situation on the way, the pilot showed prudence and landed the helicopter safely on the highway near Badasu.

The local administration and police team immediately reached the spot and the passengers were sent to a safe place. It is said to be the helicopter of Crystal Aviation Company. The helicopter took off for Kedarnath from Badasu helipad and had to make an emergency landing on the highway as soon as it took off. There were five passengers, pilot and co-pilot in the helicopter. The co-pilot is reported to have suffered minor injuries.

CEO Ukada Sonika informed that the helicopter of Crystal Aviation Private Limited, while flying from Sirsi with the passengers, made a precautionary landing on the highway besides the helipad. There is no news of any casualty. DGCA has been informed, rest of the helicopter operations are going on normally as per the scheduled program.

A helicopter accident had also happened last month

Last month also, a helicopter ambulance had crashed while landing in Kedarnath Dham. The helicopter ambulance belonged to Rishikesh AIIMS, which was going from Rishikesh to Kedarnath. On May 8, 2025 a helicopter going to Gangotri Dham crashed near Gangaani. In that accident, six people including five women died on the spot. One person was seriously injured. The helicopter accident in Gangaani was very horrific. The officers and staff conducting the search and rescue operation there said that the helicopter broke into two pieces in the accident. Two bodies were stuck in the helicopter. The helicopter had to be cut to take them out. It was very difficult to conduct a rescue operation in a 200 meter deep ditch.
