A historic move offering direct relief to 140 crore citizens: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has welcomed the Central Government’s decision to abolish excise duty on diesel and reduce excise duty on petrol by Rs 10 per litre, bringing it down to just Rs 3 per litre.

Describing the move as historic and pro-people on Friday March 27 , 2026 , he said that this decision would provide direct relief to 140 crore citizens across the country.

Chief Minister Sai observed that the decision would bring significant respite to every section of society, including families, farmers, labourers, and the middle class. He noted that even amid prevailing global challenges, the Centre’s resolve to shield citizens from additional financial burden reflects a deeply sensitive and people-centric approach, one that will have a tangible impact on everyday life, he added.

On behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh, Sai expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this important decision. He stated that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the Central Government has consistently placed public welfare at the forefront of its policy decisions. Chief Minister Sai added that the move stands as a strong testament to the Prime Minister’s foresight, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the nation’s citizens, the CM remarked.
