Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has launched a scathing attack on global leftist politics, calling it a ‘double standard’. She said that US President Donald Trump, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Argentine President Javier Milley and she herself are together creating and leading a new global right-wing movement.

Meloni said that when these nationalist leaders talk about national interests and border security, the leftists start calling them a threat to democracy. He said that the ‘dual character’ of the leftists has been exposed. Meloni said that now the world does not believe the false stories of the left and they are familiar with the ‘motivated criticism’ of nationalist leaders.

Expressing confidence in Trump’s leadership and working style, Meloni pointed to the panic among the leftists and said that they are worried because right-wing leaders are winning across the world and are cooperating on global issues.

During a virtual address at the Conservative Political Action Conference held in Washington DC on Sunday February 23, 2025 , Meloni took a dig at the leftists and said, ‘When Bill Clinton and Tony Blair created the Global Leftist Network in the 90s, they were called great politicians. But today when Trump, Meloni, Milley and Modi discuss global issues, they are called a threat to democracy. This is the double standard of the left.’
