In view of the heavy crowd, Prayagraj Sangam Railway Station (Daraganj) has now been closed till 28 February. If the crowd remains like this, then Prayagraj Sangam station can be kept closed further. In this regard, the DM has written a letter to the Divisional Railway Manager. RPF and GRP personnel deployed at the station have also been asked to remain in alert mode.

It has been said in the letter that a large number of devotees / bathers are arriving in Mahakumbh-2025, in such a situation, for their smooth, safe and well-organized movement, it is necessary to stop the movement of rail passengers from Daraganj from 17 February to 28 February 2025.

Regarding this, Prayagraj DM Ravindra Kumar Mandad has requested the Divisional Railway Manager to keep Daraganj railway station closed for the movement of passengers on the above date. Let us tell you that Sangam railway station is located in Daraganj area of Mahakumbh area. This is the closest railway station to the fair area.

In fact, a huge crowd of devotees is reaching Mahakumbh before Mahashivratri. There is a long queue of vehicles inside and outside the city. Due to Sunday being a holiday, there was a jam in Prayagraj and its surrounding areas. However, the traffic system is running fine right now. There is a jam situation only at a few places. The DGP of UP told that the traffic is running smoothly on the routes around Prayagraj to come to Mahakumbh.

At present, around 8 am, there was a traffic jam on two roads of Prayagraj city – Leprosy Tiraha and Phaphamau Tiraha. At the same time, the traffic on Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway is clear. The traffic system is also running smoothly on the roads coming and going to Prayagraj from Rewa, Jaunpur, Lucknow, Varanasi and Kaushambi. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday appealed to all the devotees coming to the Maha Kumbh to cooperate in maintaining smooth traffic and maintaining cleanliness. He emphasized that the Maha Kumbh is a grand religious festival, in which people from all over the country and abroad come. Therefore, its success can be enhanced by collective cooperation.

The Chief Minister appealed to the devotees not to park their vehicles on the roads and instead use the designated parking areas to ensure a hassle-free experience for all.

According to a statement, the CM also called upon saints, ashrams and various religious social organizations to continue their tradition of distributing free food (Bhandara) and prasad, so that all pilgrims can get the benefit of these holy offerings. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness in the Maha Kumbh, he said that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility.

The Chief Minister urged the devotees to follow the cleanliness protocol and encourage others to do the same, so as to ensure a spiritually rich and clean experience for all the participants.

It is worth noting that earlier on February 9, Prayagraj Sangam railway station was closed till February 14 due to the crowd on the occasion of Maghi Purnima. The station was to open at 12 midnight on February 14, but in view of the crowd, this time limit was extended till 12 midnight on February 16. The official of Northern Railway Lucknow Division had told that passengers should catch the train from Prayag and Phaphamau stations only, special trains are also being operated from these stations.
