Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Promises To Promote Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, Is Happy That Film Didn’t ‘Distort History’
Chhaava released on Friday February 14 , 2025 and has garnered positive reviews across the nation. It has Vicky Kaushal playing the titular role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, also stars Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave a shoutout to Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava. He lauded the movie for not “distorting history.” The historial drama has Vicky playing the central role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Amid strong demands to make Chhaava tax-free, CM Fadnavis gave out a statement on February 19. According to ANI, he said, “I am happy that a very good movie has been made on his (Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s) life. I have yet to watch it but I have heard from people that this film has been made without distorting history. There has been a lot of demand from the people to make this film tax-free. I want to inform the people that we removed the entertainment tax in 2017 itself in Maharashtra. We will see what best we can do to promote this film and make it available for maximum people.”

The movie also received a lot of love from Alia Bhatt who could get enough of her Raazi co-star Vicky’s performance. Taking to her Instagram handle, Alia re-shared a post of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. Praising the film, she wrote, “Vicky Kaushal! What are you???? Cannot get over your performance in Chaava! @vickykaushal09.”
