Maoists Sneaking into Telangana from Chhattisgarh

Telangana :Adilabad: Maoists are facing intense combing operations in Chhattisgarh as the Centre launched operation Kagar and they are sneaking into Telangana borders for shelter. Maoists have suffered huge losses in a series of exchange of fires with the central forces, police and greyhounds in recent months in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Telangana.

Maoists’ central committee member and Maharashtra secretary Ranadev of Warangal was killed in the encounter in Dandewada in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. A Maoist dalam comprising six members, including its commander Lachanna, was killed in an alleged encounter that happened in Raghunathapalem forests in Karakagudem mandal in Bhadradri- Kothagudem district in the wee hours on Thursday, in which two greyhound police were also injured. It is said this was the first encounter in Telangana state. Also Read –

Sources said that Maoists were carrying out their activities under the leadership of Lachanna, who was acting as secretary of the recently formed Palvancha-Manuguru area committee. He was a native of Rayapadu in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh and was involved in many incidents and 50 cases were registered against him.

Reportedly Maoists are trying to revive their activities in border districts Bhoopalapalli, Mulugu, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Khammam and Adilabad, which share borders with Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states. Intelligence reports said that the Manuguru area committee carrying out its activities was an indication of their shifted activity.

To prevent Maoist activities, the police are keeping surveillance on the Maoist movements on the state borders by using drones and also keeping a close watch on streams and rivulets. The police and greyhounds have intensified combing operations along the state borders and keeping a close watch on the movements of the unknown people entering Telangana from Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

These unexpected developments put pressure on the political leaders of bordering districts irrespective of party affiliation, especially after the encounter in Bhadradri-Kothagudem, as they cannot move freely now.
