Chhatarpur : In the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, two cousins eloped from home due to romantic relationships, converted their religion, and tied the knot with Hindu youths. This love saga, spanning seven long years, finally reached its conclusion with statements recorded at the police station and the submission of legal marriage documents.

MP News: A widely discussed love story unfolded at a police station in Nowgong, Chhatarpur district, as statements regarding the case were officially recorded. Alina and Shalina—two cousins who had gone missing from their home on February 9—arrived at the Nowgong police station accompanied by their partners; identifying themselves as adults, they confirmed that they had gotten married.

Prashant Joshi and Hemant Joshi, who accompanied the young women, stated that they had been involved in a romantic relationship for the past seven years. After leaving their homes on February 9, the couples solemnized their marriages according to Hindu rituals at an Arya Samaj temple on February 20. Following the wedding, Shalina changed her name to Sanvi Arya, while Alina also embraced the Hindu faith before marrying Hemant.

Station In-charge (TI) Valmiki Chaubey confirmed that a missing persons report had previously been filed regarding the young women, based on which they were successfully traced and located today. The police had also duly informed their family members.

A conversation took place between the family members and the young women at the police station; however, both sisters made it unequivocally clear that they are adults and wish to live with their respective husbands of their own free will. They firmly refused to return home with their parents.

According to TI Valmiki Chaubey, the statements of the young women have been officially recorded—a step of significant legal importance. Their educational documents (mark sheets) and Aadhaar cards are currently undergoing verification to conclusively establish their age. Since both young women are adults, further legal proceedings are being initiated solely on the basis of the statements they have provided. Currently, the police are examining the documents and closely monitoring the situation to maintain law and order.
