Change in rules
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence. Its purpose is to encourage Indians to hoist the tricolor without any restriction. Materials that include cotton, polyester, woolen, silk khadi will be used to make flags. Earlier, the use of machine-made and polyester flags was not allowed. There is also no restriction on the size of the flag and neither is there any restriction on the time of hoisting it. Under the Indian Flag Code, 2002 (Flag Code 2022), the national flag can now be hoisted 24 hours a day. The tricolor can also be hoisted at night, provided it is on a flagpole 100 feet or more high.
Flag can be hoisted for 24 hours
Earlier, the national flag was allowed to be hoisted from sunrise to sunset. But now this rule has been changed. The government has changed this rule. Now anyone can hoist the national flag for 24 hours. Just keep in mind that the flag should be at a height of 100 feet. The Ministry of Culture said that states have been encouraged to use self-help groups (SHGs) for the production of flags. Local sewing units and MSMEs have also been included in this.
Keep these things in mind
According to Article 2.2 of the Indian Flag Code, any common citizen can hoist the national flag at his home. However, whenever the national flag is hoisted, it should be kept in a position of respect.
Whenever the national flag is hoisted, it should be given full respect. It should be kept in a proper place. You have to take special care that the flag is not kept on the ground or in any dirty place.
According to the rules, the national flag cannot be used to wrap, receive and deliver items. The flag is not allowed to touch the ground or floor or water. It cannot be used to cover a speaker’s table or a speaker’s platform at an event.
According to the flag code, the national flag should not be hoisted on the same pole with any other flag or flags. Also, a torn or dirty national flag should not be hoisted.
