The news of the illness of Padma Vibhushan awardee and world-renowned Pandavani exponent Teejan Bai, an enduring torchbearer of Chhattisgarh’s rich folk culture and oral traditions, is deeply concerning. She is currently undergoing treatment in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at AIIMS Raipur, where a team of specialist doctors is closely monitoring her condition.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai wrote in a social media post ‘X’ that –I personally spoke with her family members to obtain a detailed update on her health. I have also directed the district administration to ensure that she receives the best possible medical care, continuous monitoring, and every necessary facility required for her treatment and recovery.

Teejan Bai has devoted her life to preserving and promoting the ancient art of Pandavani, taking the cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh to national and international platforms. Through her extraordinary performances, she has earned worldwide recognition and brought immense pride to the state and the nation. Her invaluable contribution to Indian folk arts has inspired generations of artists and cultural enthusiasts.

I offer my heartfelt prayers to the Almighty for her swift and complete recovery. May she regain good health soon and continue to enrich audiences with her unparalleled artistry, preserving the timeless legacy of Pandavani and bringing further glory to Chhattisgarh and India.
