Retired IAS Ashok Agarwal joins BJP, senior BJP leader Chhagan Mundhra offers him membership

Raipur: Retired IAS Ashok Agarwal has joined BJP. After retirement, Raman government had made him Information Commissioner. After the end of his tenure as Information Commissioner, there was speculation about his name that he might start his political innings. Under the BJP membership campaign, senior BJP leader Chhagan Lal Mundhra got Ashok Agarwal enrolled in BJP. Before the assembly elections, many officers had joined BJP.

As an administrative officer, Ashok Agrawal has discharged many important responsibilities. In 1985, he was selected for the State Administrative Service. After being promoted in the Indian Administrative Service, he was allotted the batch of the year 2000. Ashok Agrawal has also worked as a collector in Korba, Raigarh and Rajnandgaon districts. Agrawal, who has been the commissioner of Raipur and Durg divisions, has also discharged his responsibilities as a director public relations .

Ashok Agarwal is originally from Chhattisgarh. Two former IAS officers who joined the BJP are MLAs in the Vishnu Deo Sai Government . One of them, OP Choudhary, is handling the portfolio of of the state’s finance minister.
