Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed all district collectors in Chhattisgarh to immediately assess crop damage caused by Cyclone Arnab and ensure timely financial assistance to eligible farmers. Taking serious note of losses reported from different parts of the state, he instructed district administrations to act promptly and sensitively so that affected farmers receive relief without unnecessary difficulty.
According to the government release issued on Friday, October 30, 2026, the Chief Minister has asked officials to undertake surveys in affected areas and assess the extent of damage as quickly as possible.
Assistance is to be provided to eligible farmers in accordance with the provisions of Revenue Book Circular 6-4 and the applicable relief criteria.
“There should be no unnecessary delay in the survey and relief distribution process. Farmers must receive assistance on time,” Sai said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that administrative action should remain focused on the needs of affected farmers. He directed the authorities concerned to ensure that the process—from assessing crop losses to distributing assistance—moves forward promptly.
The instructions place responsibility on district administrations to complete damage assessments and process assistance in accordance with the prescribed norms. The release does not specify compensation rates or a fixed date for completing payments.
“Our government is committed to protecting farmers’ interests and providing them with every possible support,” the Chief Minister said.
Sai also asked district administrations to ensure that farmers do not face avoidable inconvenience while seeking relief. Officials have been instructed to maintain sensitivity and urgency throughout the assessment and assistance process.
