Jammu: Security forces have stepped up search operations across parts of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua districts following reports of suspicious movement, with police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel conducting coordinated searches at several locations.
The operation in Udhampur was initiated after information was received about the movement of two unidentified persons in the Talot village area late on Monday night.
According to officials, the two men reportedly approached the house of a local resident, Prakash Chand, and repeatedly knocked on the door seeking food. The occupants did not open the door, and after waiting for several minutes, the two individuals left the area.
They were reportedly wearing shawls and were seen heading towards the Khuban side after leaving the village.
Concerned by their presence and behaviour at a late hour, residents alerted security personnel. Joint teams of the police and CRPF subsequently reached the area and launched a cordon-and-search operation.
Searches Extend Across Jammu Region
The security response has not remained confined to Udhampur. Separate search operations are also being conducted in the Sadini forest area of Reasi district, where personnel are combing areas following reports requiring verification.
In Kathua district, security forces have carried out searches in several villages close to the International Border in the Hiranagar sector. Personnel are checking vulnerable stretches and adjoining areas as part of the security exercise.
The simultaneous operations across the three districts reflect heightened vigilance following reports of unidentified or suspicious persons in different parts of the Jammu region.
No encounter or detention has been reported in the information available so far, and the identity and intentions of the two individuals reportedly seen in Udhampur have not been established.
Security forces are continuing the searches and verifying information received from residents. The operations are expected to remain focused on the areas from where suspicious movement has recently been reported.
Authorities have also been relying on information from local residents in such areas, particularly villages situated near forests, difficult terrain and sensitive border belts, where unusual movement can be quickly brought to the attention of security personnel.
The searches in Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua remain underway, with security teams maintaining vigilance while attempting to establish whether the reported movements pose any security threat.
