Shubman Gill becomes world’s number 1 ODI batsman, surpasses Babar Azam

Team India’s star batsman Shubman Gill has become the world’s number 1 batsman in ODI. In the ranking released by ICC, Gill is at the first position with 796 points. He has left behind Pakistani batsman Babar Azam.

Shubman Gill scored half-centuries in both the opening matches against England and there after scored a century in the third and final match played in Ahmedabad. He played an innings of 112 runs in 102 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 14 fours. This was Gill’s 50th ODI match. Talking about Gill’s ODI career, he has scored 2587 runs in 50 matches, including 7 centuries and 15 half-centuries.

4 Indians included in top 10 batsmen

Rohit Sharma is third with 761 points and Virat Kohli is sixth with 727 points. However, there is no change in the position of both in the latest rankings. Shreyas Iyer is at number 9 in the list, he has 679 points.

Sri Lanka’s Mahish Theekshana becomes number 1 bowler

Sri Lankan spinner Mahish Theekshana has become the number ODI bowler, leaving behind Afghanistan’s star bowler Rashid Khan.
