Raipur: In order to promote curiosity and scientific thinking towards space science, the “Space on Wheels” program in Jashpur district has infused new energy among children.
On the arrival of the special mobile exhibition bus of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at Ranjita Stadium, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reviewed the space vehicle and observed models of rockets, satellites, and various space missions on display. During this, he interacted warmly with students and appreciated their scientific understanding and curiosity.
Jashpur’s Government Maharani Lakshmi Bai Higher Secondary School’s class XII students including Kumari Anshu Paswan, Bhumika Dahare, and Sarika Sahni—stepped forward and explained the working of various space technologies, including Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan, to the Chief Minister in a simple and effective manner.
Impressed by the confidence of the students, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that such initiatives play a very important role in developing interest in science, especially in remote areas. He said science and technology are key to development, and programs like “Space on Wheels” boost curiosity and innovation among rural children, CM Sai remarked .
Chief Minister awarded certificates of appreciation to 17 students who helped spread science knowledge in various schools of the district through Space on Wheels, and also distributed the booklet “The Magic of Night Sky” to the students.
It is worth mentioning that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, this initiative is being organised under the “Anveshan” program to promote science and technology. With the support of Vigyan Bharati- a national moment to activate the scientific temperament with a Swadeshi fervor, this program is being conducted across all development blocks of Jashpur district.
The campaign, which started on April 7, will continue for 14 days, during which the bus will visit different schools daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing students with knowledge of space science. More than 10,000 students in the district will directly benefit from this initiative.
“Space on Wheels” is an advanced mobile exhibition of ISRO designed to bring space science directly to students and the general public. The exhibition showcases models related to PSLV, GSLV, Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, RLV, remote sensing, communication, and navigation satellites. Through audio-visual mediums, interactive panels, and live demonstrations, students are being taught complex space technologies in a simple language.
The objective of this initiative is not only to increase awareness about space science but also to inspire youth to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Experts from Vigyan Bharati, physics lecturers, and volunteers are guiding the students.
This program is proving especially beneficial for those students who do not get the opportunity to visit big cities or ISRO centers.
On this occasion, MLA Pathalgaon Gomti Sai, Jashpur MLA Raymuni Bhagat, District Panchayat President Salik Sai, Municipal Council Chairman Arvind Bhagat, District Panchayat Vice Chairman Shaurya Pratap Singh Judev, Municipal Vice Chairman Yash Pratap Singh Judev, Commissioner of Surguja Division Narendra Dugga, Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar Jha, Collector Rohit Vyas, Senior Superintendent of Police Lal Umed Singh, along with a large number of school children, were present.
