External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony in the US and held bilateral talks with the US Secretary of State and NSA. He also participated in the Quad meeting, which emphasized on the stability of the Do-Pacific region.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has interacted with the Trump government for the first time in the US. He held a bilateral meeting with Trump’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio and discussed issues related to technology, defense and energy. The bilateral partnership was reviewed during the meeting. The External Affairs Minister also met America’s new security advisor Michael Waltz.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is on a US tour. He went to Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony as India’s representative. There he also attended the foreign minister-level meeting of the QUAD countries.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar shared a picture of his meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a post and wrote, “Glad to meet Secretary Rubio for the first bilateral meeting after taking over as Foreign Minister.” He said, “We reviewed the major bilateral partnership, of which Secretary Rubio has been a strong supporter.”

The US State Department said, Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Washington DC. Foreign Minister Jaishankar agreed on the shared commitment to strengthen the partnership between the United States and India. They discussed a number of topics, including regional issues and opportunities to further deepen US-India relations, particularly critical and emerging technologies, defense corporations, energy, and advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Secretary of State Rubio also emphasized the Trump administration’s willingness to work with India to advance economic ties and address concerns related to irregular immigration.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also shared a picture of his meeting with US NSA Michael Waltz. He wrote, “It was great to meet NSA Michael Waltz again. Discussed strengthening our friendship to ensure bilateral benefits and enhance global stability and prosperity. We look forward to working with a proactive and result-oriented agenda.”

The Foreign Minister earlier attended a meeting with the foreign ministers of the QUAD countries. It was hosted by the new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. During this, representatives of Japan and Australia were also present. Regarding this meeting, the Foreign Minister told in his post that in the meeting, “many dimensions of ensuring a free, open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific were discussed.”

S Jaishankar said in his post, “There was agreement on the need to think big, deepen the agenda and intensify cooperation. The meeting has sent a clear message that in an uncertain and unstable world, the Quad will continue to be a force for global good.”
