‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ Campaign is Uniting 140 Crore Countrymen – Chief Minister Sai

Foundation Days of Various States Celebrated at Lok Bhavan

Raipur: Governor Ramen Deka stated that this occasion serves as a significant opportunity to commemorate the rich heritage, historical traditions, and developmental journeys of these states.

He noted that the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India) initiative—launched at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—aims to foster mutual understanding and connectivity among various states through their respective languages, cultures, and traditions, thereby strengthening India’s unity and integrity.

Under the distinguished presence of Governor Ramen Deka as the Chief Guest, the Foundation Days of seven states and Union Territories were celebrated with great enthusiasm today at Lok Bhavan. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was specially present on this occasion.

During this ceremony, organised as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ program, Governor Deka extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state on the Foundation Days of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha.

The Governor highlighted the natural beauty and tribal culture of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh; the tourism and industrial distinctiveness of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu; the contribution of the people of Bihar to the economy and development, as well as their historical and spiritual heritage; the commercial prowess and traditions of valor of the people of Rajasthan; and the historical significance of Odisha.

He remarked that there are many similarities between Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Governor Shri Deka asserted that India’s diversity is its greatest strength, and such events serve to further reinforce national unity.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ campaign is uniting 140 crore countrymen.

He noted that while we may differ in terms of language, attire, and cuisine, ‘Unity in Diversity’ remains the defining characteristic of our nation; the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ program embodies this very spirit. Highlighting the deep-rooted ties of kinship and marriage shared between Chhattisgarh and Odisha—as well as the significant contribution of Rajasthani traders to the advancement of Chhattisgarh’s trade and industry, alongside the unique characteristics of other states—the Chief Minister stated that, under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, people are visiting various states to familiarise themselves with their respective cultures.

During the ceremony, representatives from the participating states shed light on the unique features, traditions, and culture of their respective regions. Students from various universities presented a vibrant array of cultural programs representing all the states. The Governor presented the state’s traditional Gamcha (scarf) and mementos to the representatives of the various states. In turn, the state representatives honored the Governor by presenting him with mementos on behalf of their respective states.

During the event, the Governor felicitated his Legal Advisor, Bhishma Prasad Pandey, on the occasion of his retirement. Similarly, the Governor’s Deputy Secretary, Nidhi Sahu, has pledged to donate her body; appreciating this noble decision, Governor Deka also honored her.

The event was attended by MLA Purandar Mishra, other public representatives, the Governor’s Secretary Dr. C.R. Prasanna, other officials, as well as a large gathering of youth, women, and dignitaries from all the participating states.
