Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticized the West Bengal TMC government, accusing it of insulting President Draupadi Murmu. He said that this incident was not only an insult to the President, but also an attack on the Indian Constitution and the spirit of democracy. Raising the issue on International Women’s Day, PM Modi said that the people of Bengal would soon break the TMC’s dirty politics and arrogance of power.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth approximately ₹33,500 crore in Delhi on Sunday, International Women’s Day. Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, he strongly criticized the West Bengal TMC government for violating the protocol of President Draupadi Murmu. The PM accused the TMC of insulting the President.

Targeted. The PM accused the TMC of insulting the President.

Addressing the public gathering, the PM said, “Today the country is celebrating International Women’s Day, and yesterday the TMC government in West Bengal grossly insulted the country’s President, Draupadi Murmu. Draupadi Murmu had gone to Bengal to attend a major celebration of the Santhal community, but instead of honoring the President, the TMC boycotted this sacred and important event.”

“This is an insult to the Constitution”

PM Modi said, “Draupadi Murmu herself comes from the tribal community and has always been concerned about their development. The TMC government left that event to mismanagement. This is not only an insult to the President, but also an insult to the Constitution of India. It is an insult to the spirit of the Constitution. It is also an insult to the great tradition of democracy.”

The Prime Minister stressed that this behavior is against the spirit of the Constitution.

‘Power will soon be shattered…’

The PM further said, “It is said in our country that no matter how powerful a person is, arrogance ultimately destroys them. Today, from the nation’s capital, I appeal to all of you that the TMC’s dirty politics and arrogance of power, which has insulted the dignity of a tribal president, will soon be shattered.”

He said that the people of West Bengal will never forgive the TMC for insulting a woman, a tribal president, the country’s president. The country will never forgive them either. The tribal community of the country will never forgive them. The women of the country will never forgive them.

What is the matter?

The controversy arose during President Murmu’s visit to North Bengal, where she attended the 9th International Santhal Conference in Darjeeling district as the chief guest. The event was originally scheduled in Bidhannagar (Phansidewa Block), where a large number of Santhal tribal community members could attend. However, the state administration, citing security, congestion, and other reasons, relocated the venue to Goshaipur, near Bagdogra Airport. The President himself expressed displeasure at the change, saying the new venue was too small for many people to attend.

He referred to Mamata Banerjee as his younger sister and asked if she was upset with him because neither the Chief Minister nor any minister came to receive him, despite the dignity of the office requiring adherence to protocol.

The BJP is attacking Mamata Banerjee and the TMC government over this issue. However, Mamata has categorically rejected all allegations made by the BJP, stating that the state government had no knowledge of the event.
