Rajouri/ Jammu: Security forces have intensified surveillance along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district after three suspected Pakistani drones reportedly entered Indian airspace near Rumlidhara in the Nowshera sector during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Officials said troops detected the aerial movement and activated counter-drone measures, forcing all three drones to retreat across the LoC.
The incident was followed by a search of the forward areas as security personnel sought to rule out any infiltration attempt or the possibility that the drones had dropped a payload on the Indian side.
No recovery of weapons, ammunition, narcotics or other material had been officially confirmed till Friday evening.
Suspicious Movement Near Border Fence
The drone intrusion coincided with reports of suspicious ground movement in the Rumlidhara area.
According to officials cited in separate reports, an Army patrol noticed the movement of a suspected infiltrator carrying a backpack near the border fence at around 7.15 pm on Thursday. Troops opened fire after detecting the movement, following which a search operation was launched in the adjoining area.
Security forces subsequently carried out searches to sanitise the forward belt and determine whether there had been an attempted infiltration.
The latest incident has again drawn attention to drone activity along the sensitive Jammu frontier. Suspected drones have previously been detected in forward areas of Rajouri and Samba districts, leading security agencies to conduct searches and strengthen surveillance.
Security forces remained on heightened alert along the LoC as the search and surveillance operations continued.
