Tokhan Sahu discusses development issues withPM Modi, Amit Shah

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Tokhan Sahu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday 29. During the courtesy call to the Prime Minister, Tokhan Sahu presented him with a copy of the Ramcharit Manas Granth on behalf of Lord Ram’s maternal home, Chhattisgarh. The Prime Minister discussed the development of Chhattisgarh and the progress of departmental works, focusing on various public welfare schemes aimed at promoting growth and serving public interests. Emphasising the importance of these initiatives, Modi instructed Sahu to ensure 100 per cent coverage of beneficiaries under all public welfare schemes, underscoring his commitment to inclusive development. In a separate meeting at Parliament House, Tokhan Sahu met with Home Minister Amit Shah.

During the meeting, he presented Shah with the poetry collection ‘Meri Meri Ikyavan Kavitayen’, a much-discussed work by the poet-politician and former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. The two discussed various topics of national and regional importance. Home Minister Shah extended his best wishes for the health of Tokhan Sahu’s father and conveyed good wishes to the Minister’s family, reflecting the personal rapport shared between the two leaders. Tokhan Sahu also actively participated in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, marking his presence in the Rajya Sabha. As part of his ministerial responsibilities, Sahu tabled 17 questions pertinent to his ministry, addressing critical issues and initiatives.

These questions encompassed a wide range of topics, including the housing subsidy scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for economically weaker sections, the Amplify Yojana 2.0, and the Smart Cities Mission with a focus on cities like Telangana, Madurai, Trichy, and Coimbatore. The minister also raised questions concerning subsidies related to electric vehicles and sought updates on the reports of Municipal Corporations, Palika Parishads, and Nagar Panchayats under the Amrit Mission. Further, he highlighted the need for a comprehensive action plan to enhance urban transport and traffic management and addressed the pressing issue of waterlogging in urban areas.
