Union Home Ministry directs all states to conduct mock drills, asks them to train students and citizens

The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has asked many states of the country to conduct a mock drill for civil security on May 7, 2025 so that the safety of people can be ensured in case of an emergency. Central government sources gave this information.

According to sources, the following steps will be taken in this mock drill –
*Air raid warning siren will be activated.
*Common citizens, students etc. will be trained on how to protect themselves if any kind of attack happens.
*Arrangements for blackout will be made. That is, electricity should be turned off if needed so that the enemy does not see any target.
*Arrangements will be made quickly to hide important factories and bases.
*The evacuation plan will be updated and its practice (rehearsal) will also be done.

The Home Ministry has given these instructions at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have increased after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in South Kashmir and India is considering options for retaliation against Pakistan. 26 people were brutally killed in this terrorist attack. Most of them were tourists.

After this attack, India has taken several strategic steps against Pakistan. These include suspending the Indus Water Treaty, reducing the number of employees in the Pakistani High Commission, closing the Attari check post and stopping postal services in all categories.
