Unique “Green Cave” Discovered in Kanger Valley

New Tourist Destination Opens Up

Raipur: Kanger Valley National Park in Chhattisgarh is renowned nationally and internationally for its stunning natural beauty, rich biodiversity, and world-famous tourist destinations. Adding to this, another unique natural formation has been discovered in the Kanger Valley, which has been named the “Green Cave.”

It is worth mentioning that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of the Minister of Forests and Climate Change, Kedar Kashyap, the state government is giving special priority to the conservation and promotion of tourism and wildlife heritage.

Forest Minister Kashyap clarified that the inclusion of the Green Cave on the tourism map will give a new dimension to tourism in Kanger Valley National Park, which will increase local employment opportunities and accelerate regional development. Tourists will soon be able to experience the natural beauty of this amazing cave firsthand.

The Forest Department plans to open the cave to tourists soon after completing the necessary preparations.

Notably, this Green Cave is located in Compartment No. 85 of the Kotumsar complex. The cave’s walls and the stalactites hanging from the ceiling are covered with a layer of green microorganisms, which is why it has been named the “Green Cave.” This cave, made of limestone and rock, is considered one of the rare and unique caves of the Kanger Valley.

The path to the Green Cave passes through large boulders. Upon entering the cave, the green walls covered with microbial deposits immediately attract visitors. Further inside, a large chamber is visible, from where bright and massive stalactites and flowstones (layers of stone formed by flowing water) can be seen, further enhancing the natural grandeur of the cave.

Located amidst dense forests, this cave, with its unique structure and natural beauty, is set to become a new tourist attraction.

The cave is being protected and regularly monitored by the Forest Department. Additionally, development work on access roads, walking trails, and other necessary infrastructure is underway, keeping in mind the convenience of tourists.

The Forest Department is continuously striving for the tourism development of Kanger Valley National Park. The guidance of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, V. Srinivasan, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Arun Pandey, has played a significant role in this initiative.
