Voting for the first phase continues, 219 candidates including Iltija are in the fray for 24 seats

Voting for the first phase of assembly elections is being held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years ,will be held for 24 assembly seats in seven districts till 6 pm today.

Voters stand in a queue waiting for their turn at a polling station in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The National Conference has fielded Mohammad Khalil Band from the Pulwama seat, while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has fielded Abdul Wahid ur Rehman Parra

Polling is underway for 24 assembly constituencies (16 in Kashmir and 8 in Jammu) in Jammu and Kashmir. After casting his vote in Kishtwar, a voter said, “Today, assembly elections are being held after 10 years. We want unemployment and inflation to end, keeping this in mind, we have voted.
