World Tribal Day was celebrated with great joy and zeal and zest by the people of Sarva Adivasi Samaj in Bastar district headquarters Jagdalpur. On this occasion, a huge rally was taken out by Sarva Adivasi Samaj from all the seven blocks of Bastar district. In which thousands of women and men of the tribal society came out on the main roads of Jagdalpur dancing and singing with traditional musical instruments and DJ in their traditional attire.
During this, at major intersections, many social organisations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and political party officials and public representatives welcomed the rally with garlands and flower showers. During this, the tribal society, while demonstrating its unity, warned and cautioned the government and public representatives to be aware of their rights. Ignoring the tribal society will not be tolerated at all.
Be informed that The World Tribal Day was started in 1982 by the United Nations General Assembly, where 9 August was declared as Tribal Day to promote the rights of the tribals. The tribal community has been facing socio-economic and environmental challenges for centuries. The tribal society is still struggling for its basic rights of water, forest and land.
