Raipur : The State Congress Committee can announce the candidate for Raipur South bypolls on Monday October 21,2024 . The names of two contenders have been sealed in an envelope. State President Deepak Baij and Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant are yet to discuss with State Incharge Sachin Pilot. After this, a panel of two names of contenders will be made and sent to the central leadership. The names of the contenders were discussed in the election committee meeting which lasted for about an hour at the Congress state office Rajiv Bhawan.
A total of 14 names of contenders came up in the meeting. The names of Pramod Dubey, Akash Sharma, Kanhaiya Agarwal and Gyanesh Sharma were discussed in it. Leaders say that there is a tough competition between Pramod Dubey and Akash Sharma for the ticket. The officials present in the meeting agreed to the state president Baij and leader of opposition Dr. Mahant to finalise the name and send it to the central leadership. While a wild card entry in the list is quite expected from Congress high command .
Let us inform you that BJP has opened its cards for the Raipur South by-election. Former MP Sunil Soni has been fielded in the by-election.
