There has been a new twist in the case of the death of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian. Nearly five years after Disha’s death, her father Satish Salian has now filed a petition in the Bombay High Court. Why is the case of Disha Salian’s death now at the center of politics?
The case is in the headlines again after Disha Salian’s father went to the Bombay High Court. In his petition, Disha’s father has demanded that Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray be made an accused in the case. He has also pleaded to hand over the investigation of the case to the CBI. After this petition, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said, “I have seen the police investigation, and it was an accident, not murder… Her father has filed the petition five years after the incident. The whole state knows the politics behind this petition… These people could not thrive on the issue of Aurangzeb, which turned against them. To wash their hands off the issue of Aurangzeb, they are fueling the Disha Salian case… This dirty politics is defaming the name of our state. This is an attempt to tarnish the name of a young leader who is doing good work.” An attempt to tarnish the image, I will answer in court: Aditya Thackeray
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray termed the allegations against him in the Disha Salian death case as a conspiracy to tarnish the image. He said that he will present his side in the court. Aditya said, the truth will come out in the court. I have said earlier also that this case is being made a political weapon.

What do other parties have to say on this?
Maharashtra government minister Sanjay Shirsat said, “Salian’s death was suspicious. Today her father has spoken openly. He has now knocked the door of the High Court. Those found guilty in this case will be sent to jail.” NCP-SCP MLA Rohit Pawar said, “Disha Salian’s father has gone to court. He has named Aditya Thackeray, but we are sure Aditya Thackeray has nothing to do with this. We are with him, but let the court decide,
If a person is trying to get justice, he should get justice, but if you look at the BJP, they will now start doing politics on it. Four years ago Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide. Immediately after the suicide, such banners were put up in Bihar only for the Bihar elections. Now after four years, the BJP will take this issue forward because there are elections in Bihar and after 6 months there are elections in Mumbai.” Maharashtra minister Uday Samant said, “It is not right to comment and do politics on this.” State Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam said, “The order of the honourable court will be followed.” NCP-SCP leader and former state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said, “I am taking information on the petition filed by Disha Salian’s father. All this now seems to be part of a conspiracy.

In October 2020, a demand was made in the Supreme Court to investigate Disha’s case under the supervision of the court along with the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Then the court refused to consider the petition for a CBI inquiry. The court had asked the petitioner to withdraw the petition and approach the Bombay High Court for this.
Apart from this, a demand for a CBI inquiry was made in the Bombay High Court. Sushant’s friend Sunil Shukla had said that the Mumbai Police did not investigate the case properly and he has evidence that can prove that Disha did not commit suicide, but it was murder. However, the police are investigating the matter, so I cannot say much.”

The SIT probing the Disha Salian murder case had called Nitesh Rane to give a statement in July 2024. The SIT asked him to appear at the Malvanin police station on July 12. I have my own opinion about his (officer’s) background and contacts. The Commissioner has said he will make the change and inform me about it,” he said in a post on Instagram.
