A strong base of economic and social security will be created for police personnel – Chief Minister Sai
Raipu: On the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government has taken a big step to provide economic and social security to the officers and employees of Chhattisgarh Police Department and has signed an agreement (MoU) with 8 major banks under the Police Salary Package. This agreement includes State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and IDBI Bank.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai described this initiative as a strong basis for security and cooperation for the police personnel. He said that this agreement reflects the commitment of the state government towards the employees of the police department. He said that this agreement will not only empower the police personnel financially but will also meet the needs of their families. This initiative will further strengthen the Chhattisgarh government’s policy of good governance and transparency and will bring positive changes in the efficiency and morale of the police personnel.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma described this initiative as a historic step towards the welfare of the police department. He said that the police personnel have been given the freedom to open salary account in any bank as per their convenience and requirement. There will be no compulsion or additional charge for this. The proposals received from all the banks will be sent to the police units so that the police personnel can choose the most suitable bank according to their needs. This agreement will provide several benefits for the police personnel and their families.
This includes provision of life insurance amount ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh in cases of normal death, assistance ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore in cases of accidental death, insurance amount ranging from ₹30 lakh to ₹1 crore in cases of permanent disability and insurance amount ranging from ₹22.5 lakh to ₹1 crore for partial disability. Financial assistance of ₹4 lakh to ₹20 lakh will be available for higher education of children and ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh for girl’s marriage. Financial assistance of ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh will be provided to the families of police personnel martyred in Naxal violence.
