This attack took place three days after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect. After this attack, there is a danger of escalation of violence in the West Bank.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, brokered by the US, has come into force, but in the meantime the Israeli army has carried out a major military operation in the Jenin region of the occupied West Bank. In this, 10 Palestinians have died and about 40 people were injured. The Palestinian Health Ministry gave information about this. However, the identity of the deceased is not yet clear.

According to Palestinian media reports, Israeli security forces carried out several air strikes one after another in the Jenin area in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.

Earlier, the Israeli army had said earlier on Tuesday that security forces and intelligence services have launched an ‘anti-terrorism operation’. They have named this operation ‘Iron Wall’. However, the IDF did not give much information. At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the aim of this operation being run by the IDF is to ‘eradicate terrorism’ from the Jenin area. He said that this area has long been considered a stronghold of Palestinian armed groups.

This attack took place three days after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect. After this attack, there is a danger of escalation of violence in the West Bank. At the same time, the spokesman of the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces has described this military operation as an attack against Palestine. He said that the Israeli army suddenly attacked our civilians and security forces.

Jenin Governor Kamal Abu al-Rab described this action as an attack. He said that it happened very quickly. Suddenly Apache planes in the sky carried out air strikes on us and then Israeli military vehicles raided everywhere. He said that before the arrival of the Israeli army, they had withdrawn from their positions around the Jenin refugee camp. Palestinian media says that the Israeli army is surrounding the Jenin refugee camp. Israeli forces have dug up several roads with bulldozers.

Top Israeli army general resigns

Earlier, a top Israeli army general resigned from his post on Tuesday for failure to prevent Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. The Gaza war started only after these attacks. Lieutenant General Harji Halevi announced his resignation on Tuesday. General Halevi has resigned at a time when the ceasefire continues in Gaza. With the ceasefire, Hamas fighters are seen back on the streets of Gaza, which proves that Hamas still controls Gaza. More than 46 thousand Palestinians have been killed and there has been heavy destruction in the war that has been going on for the last fifteen months.

This war started when Hamas-led attacks were carried out on the southern part of Israel in October 2023. About 1200 Israeli civilians were killed in these attacks. At the same time, more than two hundred and fifty people were taken hostage. More than 90 of these prisoners are still in Gaza. One third of the hostages have been killed.
