Raipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of a water supply scheme worth Rs 56 crore 78 lakh for Bhatgaon Nagar Panchayat of Surajpur district through video conferencing from Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti.
The work of this water supply scheme approved under Amrut Mission 2.0 will be completed in the next two years. Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Arun Saw participated virtually from Bilaspur in the programs organised in New Delhi and Bhatgaon.
After the virtual address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw also virtually addressed the people present in Bhatgaon. He said that after the start of this new water supply scheme, the problem of drinking water of Bhatgaon residents will be solved. The water of the Mahan river will be cleaned and delivered to the houses. After the completion of the scheme, the people of Bhatgaon will be able to get 135 liters of water per person per day as per the national standard. DY CM Saw said that we have created the state of Chhattisgarh and the responsibility of its development is also ours. He directed the concerned officials to complete all the construction works related to the scheme within the time limit with high quality.
Besides Bhasmasur water purification plant of two MLD capacity will be built, 3586 tap connections will be given from 64 km distribution pipeline In this water supply scheme costing Rs 56 crore 78 lakh approved under Mission Amrit 2.0, drinking water will be delivered to Bhatgaon by constructing an intake well in Gonda Anicut of Mahan river. Under the scheme, clean drinking water will be made available to Bhatgaon city by purifying surface water through raw water pipeline from Anicut in the proposed water purification plant. Currently, 49 liters of water is available per person per day in Bhatgaon city. After the start of this new water supply scheme of Bhatgaon, 135 liters of drinking water per person per day will be made available there.
Under the Bhatgaon Water Supply Scheme, water purification plants of two MLD capacity, three high level water reservoirs of total 750 kilo liter capacity, 64 km distribution pipeline and total 3586 private tap connections will be provided. The work order for this has been issued in the month of August. The target has been set to complete the work of the scheme in the next 24 months.
