Raipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the water supply scheme for Bhatgaon Nagar Panchayat of Surajpur district on October 2, the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. He will virtually inaugurate and perform Bhoomi Pujan of water supply schemes approved in 13 states under the Amrit Mission at a program organised by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Saw will join the program at ten in the morning from Bilaspur Collectorate. He will unveil the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Collectorate premises immediately after this. Water supply scheme has been approved in Bhatgaon under Mission Amrit 2.0.
In this scheme costing Rs 56 crore 78 lakh, drinking water will be supplied to Bhatgaon by constructing an intake well in the Gonda Anicut of Mahan River. Through the raw-water pipeline from the Anicut, surface water will be purified in the water purification plant proposed under the scheme and clean drinking water will be made available to Bhatgaon city. At present, 49 liters of water per person is being available per day in Bhatgaon city.
After the start of this new water supply scheme of Bhatgaon, 135 liters of drinking water per person per day will be made available there. Under the Bhatgaon Water Supply Scheme, water purification plants of two MLD capacity, three high level reservoirs of total 750 kilo liter capacity, 64 km distribution pipeline and a total of 3586 private tap connections will be provided. Work order has been issued for this in the month of August. The target has been set to complete the work of the scheme in the next 24 months.
