Putin said- The leaders of many nations are paying attention to this issue and giving it a lot of their time. These include the President of the People’s Republic of China, the Prime Minister of India, the President of Brazil and the Republic of South Africa.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed gratitude to world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, for their efforts to broker a ceasefire and resolve the conflict with Ukraine. Speaking at a joint press conference with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday, Putin said Russia agrees with proposals to end hostilities but “it is proceeding with the view that this cessation will lead to lasting peace and address the root causes of the crisis.”
Putin said thank you to these world leaders including Trump-Modi
Putin further praised the world leaders and said- “I would like to thank the President of the United States Trump for paying so much attention to the Ukraine agreement. We all have time to settle our domestic affairs but the leaders of many nations are paying attention to this issue and giving it a lot of their time. These include the President of the People’s Republic of China, the Prime Minister of India, the President of Brazil and the Republic of South Africa. We are grateful to all of them for this because its purpose is to achieve a larger mission, which is the mission to end hostilities and loss of life and property.”
…but kept this condition
Putin further said, we agree with the US proposals to stop the ongoing war with Ukraine, but any ceasefire should bring lasting peace and the root causes of the conflict should be resolved. He also mentioned the recent US-Ukraine discussions in Saudi Arabia and said that Ukraine’s willingness to ceasefire was possibly influenced by US pressure.
Talking about Ukraine’s ceasefire, Putin referred to US President Trump’s efforts and said, “Ukraine may have expressed its willingness to ceasefire under US pressure in Saudi Arabia.” He said that the Ukrainian side has probably taken this decision under US pressure, which may be prompted by the deteriorating situation on the battlefield. Putin made it clear that Russia supports peace talks, but on the condition that it will provide a long-term solution and eliminate the root causes of the conflict.
Trump had threatened!
Let us tell you that US President Donald Trump had said that he wants to end this war and is expecting Russia to agree to a 30-day ceasefire. On March 11, Ukraine has said that it will support this proposal. US President Donald Trump welcomed Ukraine’s agreement to ceasefire after peace talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and further expressed hope that Russia will also agree to it. Stating that soldiers from both Russia and Ukraine are being killed in this “terrible war”, Trump said that reaching a ceasefire is very important and further hoped that Russia will also agree to it. PM Modi had said that he is in favour of peace
Earlier in February, Prime Minister Modi had welcomed Trump’s efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine dispute and reiterated India’s position that the dispute should be resolved at the negotiating table. PM Modi also reiterated that India’s stand in the conflict is not neutral but it is in favour of peace. The Prime Minister stressed that he himself has met the leaders of both Russia and Ukraine and also pointed to his comment ‘this is not an era of war’ made in the presence of Russian President Putin.
